22 Sept 2009

What a day of flying. Baggage door came off aircraft at 30,000 ft. I was very surprised that the Piaggio flew so well with a 3 X 3 hole in the side. The worst part of the whole thing is trying to get the parts to fix it.

after 530 mph

The door came over the aircraft and hit the right side horizontal stabilizer.

11 Sept 2009

Spent two day up at Duck Creek. Put on 130 miles on the ATV's.

Our little cabin.

Great signage on the trails.

Day 49 Project Iron Wolf

27 Sept 2009
My dash from IHONLY North will be filled with Auto Meter Phantom gauges. The old Scout dash has been chopped out to accept the gauges.

Auto Meter Phantom Oil Pressure.

Just need to get the Speedo and Tac.

Day 48 Project Iron Wolf

22 September 2009
A little time with a razor to get the old tint off.

Day 47 Project Iron Wolf

20 September 2009
Have to get side windows out so I can get top sanded down and ready for some silver paint.
Plan to pry the window out and see if I can re-use the seal.
Nasty old window ready for the fight. Getting this window will be a chore.
Using some screw drivers to get the job done.

Shifted to plastic, the screwdrivers were a little nerve racking. I felt like I was going to break the window.

Window out.

A little rust. I will cut out the cancer and weld in some new metal.

Day 46 Project Iron Wolf

15 September 2009
Getting ready and laying out the front bumper. The plan for the bumper will be made out of 1/4 plate. It will be the platform for a Warn 9000 winch, driving lights, and recovery hooks.

Using cardboard as template. Looking to see how much plate I will need.

I like it.

Day 45 Project Iron Wolf

09 September 2009
Putting on the rock slidders on. The plan is to add a slug in the rock slidder tubes and have the slug go through the frame. This should put added strength to the rock slidder.

Measured and drilled to start the cutting process.
Using plazma cutter to get the job done. Cutts like butter.

All cut.

Pulling slug out. This thing is still about 200 deg.

In place and ready for final welding.

Mayhem at Lake Powell

6-8 Aug 2009
Third year going to Lake Powell with the company. This year we are using both planes to get the guys to the lake.

Both planes, N133PA and N780CA sitting in front of Western Flight Carlsbad California. Griff and I getting ready to pack the guys on board.

The little FBO at Cal Black U96 airport.

Both planes sitting on tarmac at U96.

On the lake steaming through one of the canyons.

Chilling out with my Corona and stogy.

Panoramic view of the house boat moored in a little out cove.

Some of the guys went to the dock to get ice cream and beer. They also brought back one of the lake carts. It was re engineered to hold a person, be pulled by a ski boat over land and then end up on the water.

As Griff says "Casper on the water"

Panoramic view of both planes at U96.

Playing with fire. Sobie bomb. This one blew up and threw glass every where.

Another bomb. this worked the way it was supposed to work.

Casidy going all out. Land, water, land, and back to water. It was amazing that the cart stayed together.

Hoppie taking the high road.
