Scarecrow Trail

Saturday the 18th of August Sharon and I went out on the Scarecrow Trail. The trail is a 25 mile loop that hugs the Utah / Nevada boarder. It was an easy trail. The trail started at an elevation of 3350 ft and climbed to 5630 ft. Check out her new ITP SS112 rims and Mudlite tires. Looks pretty good.

The trail went through a large Joshua tree forest. This part of the forest was burnt out by the 2005 /2006 fires.

This is the Joshua tree forest that did not get touched by the fire. The forest looked like it covered about 20 acres.

Dallas Maintance Trip Day 3

Dallas Maintance Trip Day 2

After shopping at the Bass Pro shop, we found this winery in the old town of Grapevine Texas.

Met some people from Savannah Georgia taste testing the wine. Cheers!

Putting everything togeather

The Hull and Wing is now mated. Its time to put everything togeather and see how it fits.








Putting the very large flap in place.









Setting the aileron in place. Getting all three hinges aligned was a lot of fun. Ha. Ha.








Flap and aileron in place and gap is really good. the closer the gap the better the wind flow over the whole wing.

Building the Elevator

This was a fun step. I had to melt lead and pour it into a mold. This is a counter weight for the elevator.








Once the Horizontal Stabilizer was dry I had to cut off the elevator, attach the torque tube, and hinges.

Finishing up. All is done and its time to put it all together and check the fit. If all fits good its time for paint.

Building the Horizontal Stabilizer

Building the Horizontal Stabilizer was the second biggest job so far. Here I'm building the inside.








Once the frame was completed I had to prep the lower side to mate the frame.








The lower skin and frame is in the jig to dry.

Again, playing with Hysol. Interior is done.

Installing all the ribs inside the flaps.
